4th of July Reflections

How things can CHANGE in a few years. Three years ago, (July 4, 2007), I had just finished up a work week at my internship in New York City. I then spent the 4th of July weekend seeing the sights of Boston with my Aunt on the drive up from Connecticut to Massachusetts. Harvard. Mystic Seaport. Eating great seafood. Then my uncle met up with us at Marblehead. We watched fireworks from their friend's yacht. Wine. Cheese. Fresh saltwater air.

This year, (July 4th, 2010), I spent the weekend back home in IOWA. Baby-sitting. My parents had a party for friends and family. I made a cake with BLUE frosting. And we have to watch fireworks from a lawn chair on July 5th because of RAIN. Yes, a few years can change things.

I try not to look back with regrets. It was my CHOICE to move back to my home state. But sometimes when you look back at pictures you start to wonder what if. What if I had stayed out East? Would I have a fabulous job in New York City by now? Would weekend trips to Boston have been the norm?

My life out on the EAST COAST was fabulous. I'm currently trying to remind myself that life in IOWA can be FABULOUS too. And I'm trusting that I am exactly where I am supposed to BE.
